Festive Flavoured Butters

Prep Time:20 minutes for several flavours
There’s nothing like a home-made gift to show you care! This is a unique idea for children to prepare and wrap, under your guidance, for their school teachers to enjoy and appreciate this Festive Season.

Ingredients(500 g)
500 g brick  butter, at room temperature
Orange & Almond butter
Grated rind of 1/2 orange and 15 ml of the squeezed juice
30 ml ground almonds
30 ml  icing sugar
Label as: Spread on freshly toasted slices of raisin bread or with warm Christmas mince pies

Mustard butter
10 ml whole-grain prepared mustard
10 ml fresh chopped parsley
generous grinding black pepper
Label as: Use when preparing savoury sauces, melt over grilled steak

Country Herb and garlic butter
10 ml each of fresh dhania (coriander), parsley, thyme
1 large garlic clove, crushed or finely chopped
Sprinkle  garlic herb salt or ground black pepper on top
Label as: Spread between French loaf slices before wrapping and baking. Enjoy on grilled fish.

Method
1. Slice the butter equally into 5. Transfer each slice into its own small bowl.
2. Mix in additional ingredients to a 100 g portion individually, as follows:
3. To finish off, spoon each flavoured butter portion into SPAR Good Living ramekin dishes (purchased in sets of 2), wrap in cellophane and tie on a label with ribbon or raffia.
